Male Whores and Gentlemen

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: , , — C'hele @ 21:13

My cousin (who is more like baby sister to me) and I, had an interesting conversation yesterday. Now “M” I shall call her, is a twenty-nine year old nursing student on her final year. M, has been with one man only since she was seventeen and they are going strong. The conversation started this way:

“So like, what’s up with men?” she asked.

“What do you mean?” I replied

“I went out to a pub for drinks with another friend/nursing student yesterday, and she made the comment to the effect of; men want a whore in bed and a lady in public.” she said.

“What do you think about that notion?”

After conversing with her for a while and the conversation ended, the question still lingered in my mind for most of the day.

You never hear of women declaring that they want a male whore in bed and a gentleman during the day. At lease I haven’t heard of any women demanding one.

How come women are expected to become so diverse and men are not?

It occurred to me, that I discovered my dilemma.

Do they do mail orders on this type of guy?

  3. Actually you have hit upon something very significant, societally — the difference is that men’s sexuality is not perceived to be compartmentalized. There is nothing in our social structure that make gentlemanliness and sexual passion mutually exclusive — but ladylikeness and sexual passion *are* mutually exclusive. You can see this just in the most common definitions of the words:

    Gentlemanly = chivalrous or courteous
    Ladylike = well-bred, decorous

    The difference is immediately obvious. It is quite possible to be a chivalrous and courteous seducer. It is not possible to be decorous and sexual at the same time.
