My After Christmas Prayer……

December 26th, 2010

Dear Lord:

Me thinks I passed the test. It was hectic. Almost insane. I was greatly aggrieved by the time Christmas Day came, but the “planned dinner” turned out to be a “buffet’d success”. I have to tell you, I was so incredibly grateful when:

1. The consistently unattended toddler, did not break any of my “really good” dishes when she grabbed most of them off the table and then run around the house with them.

2. The full glass of wine that was spilled upon my new rug by a boozed-up guest was dealt with not one negative comment when what I really wanted to tell him was, what an immature, stupid, ignorant asshole he was. So, with as much calm as I could muster to remedy the situation, I poured a whole box of table salt upon the spots. Remembering to “take it with a grin of salt” (A Yogi Berra quote), the real grin came afterwards when I vaccuumed all the salt up. There was not a stain to be found. Thank you for reminding me about the law of karma, so I could avoid making myself look like an idiot by choosing to keep my stressed-out comments to myself.

Lord, I was most incredibly grateful to you when 2:30 a.m. came around and everyone decided to GET LOST. By the end of the night, a miracle caused the taxi’s to arrive promptly, no one threw-up in my home, and my kitchen was spotless for the next day. This morning, I had someone else make and serve me breakfast and coffee with music. Just that itself, was a huge blessing to me.

Thanks again for your presence.

The Five Days Before Christmas Prayers. #5!

Admist all the stresses and messes,
There is thanks to give-
To the Great Creator for this chance to live.

Good food.
A home that envelopes both good music and mirth.

And whether a person has all these things or not,
The real thing that matters,
Is that the Holy Spirit dwells inside each of us.
So its not really the “things” that count Lord,
It is the gift you have silently bestowed inside each of us-
A wee but mighty present, just waiting to be opened.

What the hell. God?
This is NO good. I HATE cooking.
I cant. I’m alcohol intolerant.
Thanks Lord, for making me have to deal with it….!
Well, there’s always M & M Meats and my credit card.
Thank you Lord for the “gentle redirection”,
Because this somebody is completely “fruitless” at the moment in the kitchen.
I pray it all turns out to be edible or the dog is going to have one hell of a meal tonite…….

The beauty of calming music,
The tempestuously, soothing sounds of nature,
Wonderful fusions of darkened shades in the winter sky,
Snowflakes softly tresspassing.
All these things remind me-
That your love is all these things manifest.
Thank you Creator,
For the devoted and simple reminders.

Here’s to Happy Holidays,

Thank you Lord,
In these past few stressful days……
For distracting me and reminding me-
To look for the sacred in the everyday ordinary.
It makes everything a bit more tolerable………

Thank you, Great Mystery.

I am grateful for all that I have, and for all that is.

Thank you for the blessings and for
all the simple things in life.

– Even all the trials and tribulations,
that force me to open my eyes in order for it to
teach me how to evolve as an elightened human being.

Help me to continue to walk my talk,

to continue to question,

and to perfect the art of being in the moment.

May everyone one day, learn to stop and listen for that moment-

To listen to the music that resides within all of us and know you are there.

I pray to the Great Creator-
that my needs be simple and met.
May my Spirit be blessed with harmony,
and troubles loose thier way whilst on my path.
Let fortitude, compassion and wisdom continually be my advisors-
and may the little string within the Universal web of life in which I hold, be ever fortified.

Haiku Poetry

It’s been a while since I’ve done Haiku. Hopefully I’ve got it right:

The sounds of nature
Fills the body, soul and mind.
I am not alone.
